Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to and use of VSI (VeriScope Identity), an event-based verification infrastructure service designed to produce audit-ready verification evidence.

Last updated:

Key concept

VSI is evidence infrastructure, not an identity guarantee product.

What VSI provides

VSI produces verification event evidence (e.g., event ID, timestamp, status, scope, expiry) to support platform risk operations, investigations, and dispute posture.

What VSI does not provide

VSI does not provide behavioral scoring, endorsements, insurance, warranties, or guarantees of identity truth, intent, or future conduct.

1. Acceptance

By using VSI, you agree to these Terms.

By accessing or using VSI websites, applications, forms, flows, or services (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy policy. If you are using VSI on behalf of an organization, you represent you have authority to bind that organization.

2. Definitions

Simple language, infrastructure framing.

  • Platform/Customer: the business using VSI to issue verification requests (events).
  • User/Subject: the person completing a verification flow for a given event.
  • Event: a verification request scoped to a specific purpose and time window.
  • Receipt/Evidence: metadata output showing that a verification process occurred (not a guarantee).
  • Scope: the reason and boundaries for a verification event (why, what, and for how long).

3. Service description

Event-based verification infrastructure.

VSI enables Platforms to request verification for a defined use case. Users may be asked to provide information as part of that verification. VSI may generate a receipt/evidence record that includes event metadata such as an event identifier, status, timestamp, scope, and expiry.

4. Evidence, not guarantees

Limitations are core to the product.

VSI provides evidence that a verification process occurred under a defined scope and timeframe. VSI does not guarantee that a person is “safe,” “legitimate,” “trustworthy,” or that identity claims are permanently true. Verification results may be affected by user behavior, device conditions, and limitations of third-party tools, networks, or systems.

5. Platform responsibilities

Platforms own decisions, policies, and outcomes.

  • Platforms are responsible for determining when verification is required and what actions to take.
  • Platforms must ensure they have appropriate legal basis and user notices for verification requests.
  • Platforms are responsible for their own dispute decisions, enforcement actions, refunds, and user outcomes.
  • Platforms must not represent VSI as an insurance product or guarantee service.

6. Acceptable use

No abuse, no misuse, no illegal use.

  • You may not use VSI to harass, exploit, discriminate, or unlawfully surveil individuals.
  • You may not attempt to bypass safeguards, scrape, probe, or reverse engineer the Service.
  • You may not submit false information or use the Service for fraudulent purposes.
  • You may not use VSI where prohibited by applicable law.

7. Data handling

Privacy policy governs data processing.

Our Privacy policy describes how data is handled. To the extent VSI processes information, we aim to follow data minimization and purpose limitation principles. Some event metadata may be retained to support receipts, audits, investigations, or operational integrity.

8. Third-party services

VSI may rely on external providers.

VSI may integrate with third-party providers (e.g., forms, email delivery, payments, hosting). These providers may have separate terms and policies. VSI is not responsible for third-party outages, failures, or policy changes.

9. Availability

No guaranteed uptime unless in a written SLA.

The Service may change, be updated, interrupted, or discontinued. Any uptime commitments apply only if a separate, written Service Level Agreement (SLA) is executed with the Platform.

10. Disclaimers

Standard limitations.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VSI DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

11. Limitation of liability

Infrastructure evidence, not outcomes.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VSI WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL. VSI’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID TO VSI FOR THE SERVICE IN THE THREE (3) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER, UNLESS A SEPARATE WRITTEN AGREEMENT STATES OTHERWISE.

12. Indemnity

Platforms cover misuse and unlawful use.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless VSI from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your policies or decisions, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Termination

We can suspend access for violations.

VSI may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe there is abuse, misuse, fraud, security risk, or violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time.

14. Changes

We may update Terms as the product evolves.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
